Ian Belknap is Founder and Overlord of WRITE CLUB, world’s greatest competitive reading series, that has chapters in Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He is co-editor of Bare-Knuckled Lit: The Best of WRITE CLUB (Hope & Nonthings Press, 2014), is a recurring cast member on the fiction podcast Pleasuretown, and serves as Dean of Mean at The Paper Machete. He has presented and performed at Chicago Writers Conference, Decatur (GA) Book Fest, Museum of Contemporary Art, Poetry Foundation, Chicago Humanities Festival, and Printers Row Book Festival. He teaches creative writing at Second City, StoryStudio Chicago, and Chicago High School for the Arts. He has created the full-length solo shows Bring Me the Head of James Franco, That I May Prepare a Savory Goulash in the Narrow and Misshapen Pot of His Skull, Wide Open Beaver Shot of My Heart: A Comedy With a Body Count, among others. His next show Ian Belknap’s Bucket of Shut Up will take place at Chicago’s DCASE Storefront Theater in June of 2016.
